Early Estimate 1st Day Box-Office Collection of Chennai Express

"Chennai Express" zoomed passed every record on Thursday in paid
preview show and that too with some huge margin. Yesterday film was
expected to break few records and it seems that film is on the verge
of rewriting history.

First to clear some confusion among trade
and audience about opening day record! Film released yesterday and Eid
is no doubt a big festival but not a national holiday like 15th August
when every office and every organization remain closed resulting in
huge footfall as was the case with "Ek tha Tiger" last year. Yes
"Chennai Express" might still beat that record though to be fair it
should beat "Dabangg" and "Bodyguard" easily which were similar Eid
release not a 15th August release!

Filmwas extraordinary in Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chennai, Mysore,
Maharashtra, CP and Rajasthan. CI, West Bengal, Bihar, Orrisa and
Delhi were very good. But film was onlygood in East Punjab, Gujarat
and UP for various reasons like heavy rain (Gujarat) and teej festival
(UP).

As per early estimates, film should collect 33 cr nett on Friday
taking its total figure to close to 40 cr nett. That means film might
set new record beating opening day record (32.25 cr nett) of "Ek tha
Tiger" by a whisker. It largely depends on night shows which are too
many in number but running housefull anyways at most of the places.

Film was equally good in overseas and at the moment as per early
estimates it seems that film will establish some seriously big record
there on day one, Film
should collect in excess of 15 cr and including paid previews figure
can surpass 20 cr.

Film should collect 60 cr nett worldwide by end of today which is
simply outstanding. Going by the advance booking report, it seems that
tomorrow will be another big day at box office.
