Shahrukh’s success makes Salman conscious?

Salman Khan might have hugged Shahrukh Khan, but it seems that the
arch-rivals are not ready to give away the cold war and the box
office.

SRK might have claimed that he doesn't keep a track of other stars,
but the superstar blocked Eid for his film Chennai Express as Salman's
Mental couldn't hit the theatres this Eid.

Salman's action drama Wanted directed by Prabhudheva which released on
Eid became the biggest hit of 2009. In 2010, the actor's blockbuster
Dabangg hit the
theatre during Eid, while his Bodyguard too served a good Eid treat
for his fans in
2011. In 2012, it was Kabir Khan's Ek Tha Tiger which showcased an
amazing chemistry between Salman and Katrina and created history
during Eid. It's after three years that SRK got a chance to release
his film during Eid and the flick became the fastest entry to 100
crore club.

SRK's Chennai Express has crossed 181 cr at the box office and also
became the highest week 1 (7 day week) surpassing EK Th Tiger's 140 cr
from 9 days.

It seems that the success of SRK's Chennai Express has made the
Dabangg Khan take some conscious steps and the actor, who is known for
his spontaneous career decisions, is planning 2014 very consciously.

People from different fields and celebs from glam world gathered at
SRK's Mannat for Iftar Party soon after the release of Chennai
Express. However, one of the most expected stars on the venue, Salman
Khan gave a miss to the event.

Now, according to reports, Salman has blocked all major dates in 2014
to release his films. The actor's one of the most awaited films Kick
is all set to hit the theatres during Eid, his next with Prabhudheva
might grab a Christmas or Diwali opening and Sohail Khan's Mental on
Republic Day.

We don't know about the box office, but next year undoubtedly seems to
be a joy ride for all Salman Khan fans.

Dhoom 3 first look crosses 1 million hits on YouTube within 2 days

The poster of the third installment of 'Dhoom' series 'Dhoom 3' which
has been revealed recently has managed to carve its image before
viewers on YouTube. The poster is so astonishing as an ominously
stormy sky, skyscrapers, choppers flying in the air and a topless man
watching all this standing behind a window - this is the first look of
the much awaited film "Dhoom 3". It's dramatic and makes you
curious.

Although the face is not visible, the man in the poster looks like
Aamir Khan giving a glimpse of his well-toned body, something which
audiences appreciated in his 2008 hit "Ghajini". He
is seen wearing a pair of trousers and has teamed it up with a hat.
Well this unseen face has made viewers more eager and can't wait to
see it.

As per the sources the 'Dhoom 3' poster has crossed 1 million Hits on
YouTube just in 2 days.

The film is scheduled for a Christmas release, an auspicious time for
Aamir's films, and the poster's tag line proclaims: "This year will
end with a Dhoom".

The 48-year-old is playing an antagonist in "Dhoom 3", the third
instalment in the franchise that started in 2004 with John Abraham
playing the villain. Hrithik Roshan played the negative role in "Dhoom
2".

It is reportedly said that Aamir has used
a lot of acrobatic skills to pull off heists in the Vijay Krishna
Acharya directed action thriller that also features Katrina Kaif as
his love interest.

Abhishek Bachchan once again returns to play a cop, chasing the super
villain with Uday Chopra as his sidekick.

Well, let's see, can the film create magic on theater as it's poster
has created on YouTube?

Veena Malik painted her body in London

Veena Malik has always been noticed under media talk for one or the
other hot and sexy photo shoot but this time Pakistani actress has did
something which has never been done by the actress.

Yes, for the first time ever Bollywood actress Veena Malik shows her
love interest in art and she has gone to London to collaborate with
Finland best known visual artist Vesa Kivinen.

The beautiful actress has allowed her body to be used as a canvas for
an artistic collaboration between herself and the Finland artist
Kivinen. The Artist has created 5 unique pieces wherein a rich palette
of colours painted directly onto the Veena Malik body which created
symbolic landscapes where the resulting forms and textures are a clear
departure from both the organic lines and the envisioned sketch.

It is this dialogue between three dimensional physiology and gesture
coupled with the aesthetics of two dimensional painting that coalesce
into a singular object of art. The content explores themes from
ancient & religious traditions to our contemporary global melting pot
with its ever evolving and emerging cross cultural associations.

Veena Said, "I feel very glad that Finland's well known visual artist
Vesa Kivinen had called me to work with him. I am here just for the
love of art."

Veena Malika and Artist Vesa Kivinen came up with his new approach and
concept. Now a day's Veena Malik is in London for a very special art
exhibition to show her painting where three of the
six works will be displayed in London. Veena Malik will be seen
rubbing shoulder with Hollywood star Jeremy Williams in her
forthcoming movie "The City That Never Sleeps" which is produced by
Satish Reddy.

Once Upon A Time In Mumbai Dobaraa | 1st Day Thursday Box-Office Collection

Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Dobaara! opened to a great response at the
domestic box office on Thursday (Day 1),
despite limited screen count. The film
that released on the eve of Independence Day took advantage of the
holiday scenario and went on to earn approx 14 crores according to
early estimates.

Riding high on star value, the Akshay
Kumar, Sonakshi Sinha and Imran Khan
starrer has the advantage of a brilliant
prequel which people remember for its
fantastic story line. Though critics aren't
really appreciating the film, audiences will still flock in to
theaters given its
prevailing hype in the market.

The film fared well in Delhi-UP circuit,
Pune, Mumbai and Hyderabad. The start
is great given OUATIMD has limited
screens, where the film opened to a

Will Salman's Kick Beat Chennai Express Records?

News about Salman Khan's upcoming
movie Kick has already been buzzing in
the B-Town. The latest information now
is that this movie directed by Sajid
Nadiadwala will release on next year's
Eid (July 27, 2014).

This action movie which is Nadiadwala's
directorial debut has become one of the
most anticipated movies of 2014. The
film which also stars Jacqueline
Fernandez is a remake of a Telugu movie with the same name. Telugu
which featured Ravi Teja and Ileana D'cruz was blockbuster.

Eid has been quite lucky for Salman
Khan. He has delivered four back-to-back
blockbusters on this auspicious day. 2013 is the only year since 2009,
that Salman hasn't had an Eid-release. Interestingly,
Shahrukh Khan took this opportunity to release Chennai Express and created
history in Bollywood by making 100
crore in the first weekend itself.

Looks like Eid is working for the Khans.
Kick will be extensively shot in London.
The director of the film is very excited
for the movie. "I am ecstatic to be
directing Salman Khan, with whom I
have shared a very good rapport over the years. Releasing the movie on Eid
would be like cherry on the icing, as
Salman has already proved his mettle
with Eid releases and we hope to
recreate the magic with Kick," he
expressed.

Movie Review | Once Upon A Time In Mumbai Dobaraa

Once upon a time in Mumbai, when
gangsters were heroes, there lived a
mafia king called Shoaib Khan (Akshay
Kumar) and he was a charismatic man
with womanising expertise. Milan
Luthria directed Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Dobara revolves around this
don, his companions and his love stories.
The movie's dialogues and the narrative
take the audience on a roller coaster ride
where two men fall for the same
woman.

The performances are wholly fresh and
entertaining. Akshay Kumar simply
silences the theatre halls with his
charming lines and villainous presence.
Get ready to watch the return of this
king.

OUATIMD is more than just crime
gangster film. There is bit of everything
in this movie - passionate love,
melodious music, dashing dialogues,
amazing action and more importantly
fine performance by actors. So put on those shades and suits from the 80s and
get ready to escape to an underworld
love story.

Story:

The movie begins from where the
prequel Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai
ended. Only this time it is Akshay Kumar
who is Shoaib Khan instead of Imran
Hashmi. Shoaib, a successful don who
assassinated his mentor, the previous don Sultan Mirza has now earned his
share of respect.

OUATIMD is set in the 1980s of Bombay
where Shoaib's sole interest is the
supremacy of Mumbai but his heart is
swayed by a lovely lady called Jasmine
(Sonakshi Sinha). In the movie, Shoaib is
like a godfather to Aslam (Imran Khan). Aslam was spotted by Shoaib during one
of his visits to the slums.

The tagline of the movie says 'This time
it's personal' and yes we do see a lot
more than crime and killing. When
Shoaib's passion for Jasmine grows into
something more, there arises a rift
between the young Aslam and godfather Shoaib. The two vie for Jasmine's love.

Performances So far

Akshay Kumar: He plays the role Shoaib Khan, a flamboyant bad guy. Akshay
lives like a king in the movie. He returns
as villain after 12 years. He was last
seen as the bad guy in Khiladi. Akshay
brings his character alive with the
dialogues and style. For a change, we enjoy watching the bad guy say lines
such as 'Peene ki capacity, jeene ki
strength, account ka balance aur naam
ka kauff kabhi bhi kam na hona
chahiye'.

Sonakshi Sinha: This beautiful actress plays the role Jasmine who is an
innocent starlet. She is a rising actress
and when she wins an award, she even
says that the award's value is just for a
year. She tells people to pray. Jasmine
not only impresses Shoaib and Aslam but sways the audience too.

Imran Khan: Imran Khan who is Aslam in the movie. Aslam is like a young
ambitious prince. Imran looks different
in the movie with his new avatar and
fits into the role well.

Verdict so far

Once again, director Milan Luthria
impresses us with the set-up of the
movie. The actors have given their best
to fit into the 1980s of Bombay. In this
scenario, everything is so filmy just like
how it used to be back then.

Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Dobara
makes gangsters the heroes and for once
you don't mind that. It is often said that
for a movie to become a hit, you need
five good dialogues and here you have
plenty.

5 reasons to watch Once Upon A Time In Mumbai Dobaara

Cast: Akshay Kumar, Sonakshi Sinha,
Imran Khan and Sonali Bendre
Director: Milan Luthria
Produced by: Shobha Kapoor and Ekta
Kapoor

5 reasons to watch OUATIMD

1. Yet another film on this particular don
and the audience really love to watch
this don on-screen

2. After her restraint performance in
Lootera, Sonakshi has increased the bar

3. Imran Khan proves yet again that he just not a chocolate boy

4. Sequels are always interesting thing to watch

5. Director Milan Luthria and Ekta Kapoor together have given films
like Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai and The Dirty Picture

Can Krrish 3 Overtake Chennai Express In Box Office Collections?

Just as everybody was making sense of
the mammoth success of Ranbir Kapoor
and Deepika Padukone's Yeh Jwaani Hai
Deewani, and its impressive figures
(YJHD is the third biggest hit of all time),
SRK’s Chennai Express (interestingly a Deepika starrer again) arrived with a
bang.

The film reached the 100 Crore mark in
the fastest possible time and is now even past the 200 Crore figure in
terms of worldwide gross collections. While the jury is still out on
how far Chennai
Express can go in its second weekend, the trade is already talking
about the next big release.

In the remaining months, two highly
anticipated sequels will be releasing
with much fan fare.

While there is some time before Aamir
creates ‘dhoom’ with Dhoom 3, the buzz
around Hrithik Roshan's Krrish 3 is already gathering steam.

The promo has been well received and
there is lot of excitement among fans to
watch Hrithik Roshan in a triple role.
Hrithik’s last two releases Agneepath and Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara did
well with all sections, and with Krrish being his most popular on
screen avatar, the hype around this superhero flick can only get
bigger.

Also, Rakesh Roshan’s movies generally
have a strong soundtrack, so that will be
another bonus for the movie.

However what remains to be seen is if
this Diwali release can unseat the record
of Chennai Express, and whether or not
Hrithik Roshan can give competition to
his good friend Shah Rukh Khan.

Huma Qureshi never worried about following trend

Bollywood actor Huma Qureshi, who was well appreciated for her act in
'Gangs Of Wasseypur' has revealed that she may have turned fashionable
nowadays, but she used to be a book lover during her school and
college days and never worried about following trends.

"I love books. In fact, I was a geek in college and school. I became
an actress by mistake," the 27-year-old said.

"Now I have become fashionable, but initially I used to wear my dad's
shirts. In Delhi, I still have more books than clothes," added the
"Gangs Of Wasseypur" actress.

Huma has a special fascination for biographies and seeks inspiration from them.

"Lots of books inspire me, especially autobiographies and
biographies... whether it's an athlete's or an actor's or
an industrialist's. If you read an autobiography you will find
somewhere all stories are the same," Huma said. "They are all human
beings no matter which background or ethnicity they belong to. They
somehow seem to have the same problems and demons they have to fight
with," she added.

Huma is currently shooting for Vishal Bhardwaj's production venture
"Dedh Ishqiya". Directed by Abhishek Chaubey, it stars Madhuri Dixit
in the lead role.

weekend same as Chennai Express.

Sajid Nadiadwala who is Directing a
movie for the first time, says :

I am ecstatic to be directing
Salman Khan, with whom I have
shared a very good rapport over
the years. Releasing the movie on
EID would be like cherry on the
icing, as Salman has already proved his mettle with EID
releases and we hope to recreate
the magic with Kick.

Akshay Kumar on the Cover of FilmFare

As per the latest reports, Bollywood's action hero Akshay Kumar
glorified the cover page of the famous film magazine FilmFare by
posing for it.

Akshay, who has worn two suits - one of gray colour and one black
colour, looked amazing in the formals.

The magazine mentions about how this actor became a star or rather one
of the mightiest stars of B-Town. The magazine tags him as the "The
Boss Returns."

Khiladi Kumar's upcoming movie is Once Upon Ay Time In Mumbaai Dobara
will portray him as a gangster.

Akshay's upcoming flick will release on August 15.

Ranveer Singh Angry With Deepika Padukone?

According to sources close to Ranveer
Singh, the actor is NOT happy with his
girlfriend Deepika Padukone's
behaviour. Rumour has it Ranveer is said
to be sick and tired of keeping their
relationship under wraps. He has openly been seen by Deepy's side whether on
the sets of Chennai Express in Wai, in
Mumbai or even in Dubai. A source recalls
that Deepy wasn't very pleased when
she wrapped up the lungi song with
Shah Rukh and Ranveer appeared as soon as Rohit Shetty called 'cut'! What
allegedly bothers Ranveer is the fact that
people are referring to him as an
obsessive lover when he never shows up
anywhere without her consent. There is
always something written about him when he visits Deepika on set. However,
when she visits him, nothing appears in
print at all. Rumour has it when Ranveer
asks her about this her alleged standard
reply is: 'My enemies are doing this to
you…' But as a good friend pointed out to Ranveer, Deepy's enemies should be
targeting her, not him. People allege that
Ranveer thinks maybe Deepy herself is
responsible for these stories about him.

Vidya to do cameo in Akshay's OUATIMD

Vidya Balan's association with Ekta can
be traced back to her serial days when
she was a part of Ekta's popular TV series Hum Paanch. And recently,
with them getting back together in The Dirty Picture, the two seemed
to have revived their bond.

Apparently, Ekta considers Vidya to be
lucky mascot and hence approached the
actress for a cameo in her upcoming film
Once Upon Ay Time In Mumbai Dobaara.
Vidya, who admires Ekta, immediately
gave a nod to make a friendly appearance in a song sequence. However,
the song in which she will make an appearance is still kept under
wraps.

OUATIMD stars Akshay Kumar, Sonakshi
Sinha, Imran Khan and is slated to release
on August 15.

Ranbir Kapoor sings in Besharam

From Hrithik to Akshay to Amitabh, these superstars, besides showing
their acting prowess, have also exhibited their vocal skills. Joining
the bandwagon is none other Ranbir, who is now all set to sing in
Besharam.

The said song in Besharam is titled 'Pyar
Ki Ghanti' and will see the actor dancing
to its tunes. The makers are planning to
release this as an introductory song as it
will represent Ranbir's crazy and fun
loving spirit in the film. Ranbir has joined hands with newcomers
Sujeet Shetty and Amitosh Nagpal for the song. Also, the film's
director Abhinav Kashyap, who is excited about it, feels that Ranbir
is the perfect choice for the song.

Besides Ranbir Kapoor, Besharam also
stars Pallavi Sharda, Rishi Kapoor and
Neetu Kapoor and is slated to release on
October 2.

Deepika Padukone to Don a Bikini for Dostana 2?

There’s still a big question mark over the
leading lady for Dostana 2, but it seems
that – if the film begins shooting when
it’s supposed to – then Deepika Padukone will be in. If the dates do
indeed work out, then we hear that the
leggy lass will have her entry scene in a
bikini!

Apparently, Tarun Mansukhani‘s script has a scene where the boys are sitting
around on a beach talking about Neha
(Priyanka Chopra). The topic of conversation is said to be the swimsuit
she wore in the previous film, but just
then, Deepika’s character makes an
entry wearing an even hotter swimsuit.

Considering that DPad has sported a
bikini in the past – and has the body to
work it – we don’t expect that she will
have any problem doing the scene. Word
has it that Manish Malhotra will be styling the bikini for this scene.

Abhishek Bachchan Convinces Aishwarya Rai to do an Item Song

So its confirmed! Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is back and will be doing an
old school "item song" in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's upcoming Ram Leela.
It will be an elaborate number and based on
Indian classical dance which she is so
very good at! (Think something like Madhuri Dixit's dance in Devdas.)

But what most people don't know is that
hubbyAbhishek Bachchan is the one who convinced her to do it! When the
proposal came to her, she wasn't sure
about it at all. But Abhi convinced her
that this would be a better faster
stronger comeback rather than doing a
full length feature. Also her fans have been waiting to see her do a song for so
long! You have, right? Watch this space
for more deets! And for now enjoy 10 of
her best jigs on film.

Salman Khan part ways with Lulia Vantur!

B-Town actor Salman Khan who is currently shooting Kick in UK and is
rumored to have broken up with his so-called girlfriend Lulia Vantur.
As per reports, the Dabangg put an end to it on his parent's advice.

Recently, the Romanian beauty was living with the actor after he
parted ways with Katrina Kaif. Salman was so attracted towards the
actress that he arranged her place to stay in Mumbai. The reason cited
for the two getting separated Lulia's marital status. However, the
actress denied rumors of being married already till the truth was
revealed.

A source confirmed the news by saying,
"Iulia apparently is married to a Grammy nominated musician Marius
Moga. When she was confronted about it, she kept denying the
allegations. That was when Salman's family decided to step in and take
charge of the situation."

It was after all this that the Khan family asked Sallu to end
relations with the actress. Also, the actor was snapped enjoying Eid
along with Baba Siddiqui.

The source added, "He was spotted spending Eid alone with close friend
Baba Siddiqui for company at a restaurant and then at a club."

The report also stated that the actress has gone back to Romania.

EXCLUSIVE: A New Poster of Krrish 3

A new poster of 'Dhoom 3'
has been released. Directed by Vijay
Krishna Acharya, the film also stars
Katrina Kaif and Abhishek Bachchan in
the lead roles. 'Dhoom 3' is likely to hit

a new house in Dubai.
Akshay, recently was in Dubai, to promote his upcoming film 'Once Upon
A Time In Mumbaai Dobaara'. He said that he is busy in promoting the

"I was busy with the film promotions all day but my wife has been

Akshay is willing to buy a new house in Dubai, as according to the
Khiladi Kumar it's like a second home to him.

second home now. And I have been here so many times so that's why we
decided to purchase a home here," Akshay Kumar said.

Several other Bollywood celebrities have
bought homes in Dubai like Shahrukh Khan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan,
Shilpa Shetty and Sohail Khan. Kumar said that in Dubai there are many
Indians and Pakistanis and if ever I have to move with my family I
will shift to Dubai.

"There are so many Indians and Pakistanis here, the environment is
comforting and it feels like I haven't even left home. If my family
were to shift anywhere, this is the home we would like to move to
permanently," Kumar added.

The film 'Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Dobaara' is the sequel of the
2010 hit film 'Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai'. The film is directed by
Milan Luthria and stars Akshay Kumar, Imran Khan and Sonakshi Sinha.

The film is ready to hit the silver screens
on August 15

Sonakshi Sinha: My dad loves me in all films, mom is the critic

Actress Sonakshi Sinha says her
family has given her freedom to choose
her kind of films but at the same time
she would not do anything to offend
them.

"My parents have given me enough
freedom to choose and do the kind of
roles and films I want to do. They know
how professional I am... they trust me.
They know I will not do anything that will offend them," Sonakshi told PTI.

Her comment comes in wake of reports
that her mother Poonam Sinha used to
come on the sets and was sceptical of the intimate scenes with her
co-star Ranveer Singh in 'Lootera'.

"My mom never came on set for that
particular scene. You can say what you
want to by using my name but there is no need to drag my family. If it
happens I will take a stand... I will stand up against it," she said.

She feels all this was done for publicity to grab eyeballs for that
particular scene or film.

The actress reveals that her mother used
to come on the sets to give food to her,
co-stars and director, and that they all
loved her.

Directed by Vikramaditya Motwane,
'Lootera', a period romance opposite
Ranveer Singh, brought lot of appreciation for Sonakshi.

But the 26-year-old seeks advice from
her family before signing a film.
"I take advice from them whenever I am
in doubt. They have been here in the
industry for over 30 years, which is really
a very long experience. I truly respect their advice... it's the
logical thing to do," she said.

Sonakshi reveals that her mother is her
biggest critic, while her father Shatrughan Sinha loves her in all her
films.

"My mom is my biggest critic. I know she
is one person who is saying it only for my good. My dad loves me in
all films," she said. "If I could have done it much better or if the
outfit is not looking good, she will tell me then and there itself.
The best part is she is so honest about it. My father thinks
everything I do is good only," she added.

Sonakshi will next be seen in 'Once Upon
A Time in Mumbaai Dobaara' alongside
Akshay Kumar and Imran Khan. The film
will release on August 15.

'1920' fame Adah Sharma roped in Telugu flick 'Heart Attack'

Bollywood actor Adah Sharma, who shot to the fame with her fantastic
acting skill in Vikram Bhatt's horror thriller 1920 is all set to make
southern film debut. Adah has been roped by filmmaker Puri Jagannadh
for his upcoming Telugu romantic venture named Heart Attack.

"Adah Sharma has been cast opposite Nithiin in the film. Puri was
impressed with her performance in '1920' and decided to cast her. Many
actresses were considered for this role, including some big names in
Telugu industry, but Adah was finally signed," a source close to
director Puri said.

Not long ago, it was reported that Catherine Tresa, who featured in
Telugu films "Chamak Challo" and "Iddarammayilatho", was cast opposite
Nithiin in the film.

Added the source,"We are not sure about that. Puri did consider
Catherine but we don't have much clarity on it. He (Puri) would be the
right person to confirm the same."

Puri hopes to resurrect his sagging career with "Heart Attack" after
suffering lukewarm response with films such as "Cameraman Ganga Tho
Rambabu" and "Iddarammayilatho".

Nithiin, who is basking in the success of back-to-back blockbusters
with "Ishq" and "Gunde Jaari Gallanthayyinde", hopes to score a hat
trick with this film.

simply titled
Horror Story – has just been released,

can give The Conjuring a run for its money.

Featuring an ensemble cast of Karan Kundra, Ravish Desai, Hasan Zaidi,
Nishant Malkani, Sheetal Singh, Aparna Bajpai, Radhika Menon and
Nandini Vaid, the story revolves around seven youngsters who challenge
each other to
spend the night at an infamous hotel.

Which girl would marry Aftab after 'Grand Masti': Vivek Oberai

Actor Vivek Oberoi feels that
his co-star Aftab Shivdasani in 'Grand
Masti' may remain a bachelor as any girl
would shy away from marrying him
after watching him in the movie.

'Grand Masti', an adult comedy, is the
sequel to 2004 hit comedy 'Masti', which
starred Vivek Oberoi, Riteish Deshmukh
and Aftab Shivdasani. The three are now
back in the sequel.

"As far as me and Riteish are concerned,
we are already married (in real life), but
I get quite worried about Aftab, who is
still single. Which girl would agree to
marry him after watching 'Grand Masti'?
No father will give away his daughter to Aftab after this film
releases," Vivek said.

Directed by Indra Kumar, 'Grand Masti' is
a double edged comedy about three
married men. It showcases the fun and
adventures they have during their
college reunion.

The film is slated to release on
September 13.

'Chennai Express' gets 13th position on US charts

Bollywood movies seem to be doing pretty well, when it comes to
becoming a blockbuster or being a part of the US charts. Recently
released Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, obtained the 15th position in the US
charts but Shahrukh Khan starrer Chennai Express has left it behind as
it rakes the 13th position in the first weekend of the US charts.

A leading daily of the United States has reported that Chennai Express
hit 196 theaters in the US and collected USD 2,416,513 (about Rs 1.4
crores) within the first four days of the release and USD 2,220 in the
first weekend.

The local daily of the US that keeps an eye on the movie releases in
the US also stated that the flicks to top the US list this week
include Elysium with USD 29.8 million collection, followed by We are
the Millers (USD26.4 million) and Planes (USD22.2 million).

Hrithik Roshan is a Workaholic!

Its just been a month and a few days for Hrithik Roshan's brain
surgery. Hrithik was discharged on the 11th of July and post that he
had resumed work to wrap up his superhero film, Krrish 3.

No one can say that Hrithik Roshan has undergone a brain sugery when
they saw him on August 5th when he launched the trailer of Krrish 3.

Hrithik Roshan along with father Rakesh Roshan have been working round
the clock for the past four weeks on the post-production for the film.

Hrithik says, "Problems are always going to exist. Everything will be
taken away from you except the freedom of choosing your attitude in
any given environment. Once you get that right, creating results
becomes effortless."

Hrithik adds, "For the past four weeks, I've been sitting on the post
(production) and VFX (visual effects). "I'm going to make the best of
this time given to me. Even with a hole in my brain, my spirit is
intact. The surgery has reaffirmed new values. It could not tie me
down,"

Hrithik's break won't come until October, when Hrithik — along with
his family, including mother Pinky and sister Sunaina — is set to
attend the wedding of close family friends Kimi and Pamela Grover's
son, Kunal, in Cannes.

Hrithik said, I'm doing my best to meet all the deadlines in time, so
that the entire Roshan family can be at the wedding."

The similarity in Box-office Success between ‘Chennai Express’, ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ and ’3 Idiots’?

When Salman Khan's 'Ek Tha Tiger' hit the screens in August last year,
nobody could even guess its super hit reach. But the film brought
Salman on par with the
other two Khans in Bollywood crossing the Rs.100 crore club that in the first
week itself.

Now that Shahrukh Khan starrer 'Chennai Express' has beaten the record
set by 'Ek Tha Tiger' by crossing Rs.100 crore in 4 days, compared to
Salman Khan starrer that crossed Rs.100 crore in five days, Bollywood
records come under pressure again.

Both films were released for Ramzan
festival of Muslims that helped attract the country's massive Muslim
audience to the screens. Both films were released in more than 3,500
screens setting the box-office record straight, that more the number
of the screens, faster the box office collections. In one week, the
film should recover its cost and run the race to earn profits, became
the new Bollywood business mantra.

In all, the SRK film made Rs.135.42 crore
when added its overseas collections. The
film, made in Rs.90 crore, is likely to gross four times the money
spent. In fact, the film's broadcasting rights were sold for Rs.48
crore, on the condition that the rate would be more if the box-office
collections in screens cross Rs.100 crore.

As of Monday, five days after the release
of the film and one day paid-preview
screening, the box office collections of
"Cehnnai Express" totaled Rs.100.42 crore, accroding to trade analyst
Taran Adarsh.

In comparison, 'Ek Tha Tiger', released in more than 3,500 on Indian
Independence Day in 2012, went on to create records challenging the
then successful film '3 Idiots' of Aamir Khan.

But '3 Idiots' made with Rs.35 crore
earned ten times the money. It was not
released in 3500 screens but merely in
1600 but made a box office collection of
Rs.385 crore ($65 million).

While 'Ek Tha Tiger' tried to challenge '3
Idiots' success, it just missed the record,
including national awards. What 'Chennai
Express' will achieve in the next one week
will decide whether the SRK show will
overlap Aamir Khan's style.

10 Things You Don't Know About SriDevi

As Sridevi celebrates her 50th birthday today, we bring you a special gift. Here
are 10 things about Sridevi that only a true
fan would know.

1.Sridevi was the second choice for two of her most important films -
Nagina was to be made with Jaya Prada and Chandni with Rekha.

2.Hrithik Roshan had his first speaking role opposite Sridevi, in
Bhagwan Dada which starred his father Rakesh Roshan and Rajinikanth
and in which he had a small role as a child artist.

3.Sridevi also sang playback in a handful of films, including Sadma
(Ek Dafa Ek Jungle Tha with Kamal Haasan) and Chandni (the title song
with Jolly Mukherjee).

4.Sridevi spells her name Sreedevi but has never had it corrected in
film credits and magazine articles.

5.When Sridevi first started out in Bollywood, she couldn't speak Hindi and
had her voice dubbed, mostly by yesteryear actress Naaz. Rekha dubbed
for Sridevi in 1986 film Akhree Raasta. Sridevi began using her own
voice after Chandni.

6.Sridevi and Jaya Prada were arch-rivals and shared frosty relations.
While shooting 1984 film Maqsad, actors Rajesh Khanna and Jeetendra
reportedly locked Sridevi and Jaya Prada into a make-up room in the
hope they would make up. They unlocked the door two hours later to
find the actresses sitting at opposite ends in stony silence.

7.Sridevi was originally cast in a dual role in Baazigar but the role
was rewritten and cast with Kajol and Shilpa Shetty because the makers
felt viewers would not sympathize with Shah Rukh Khan's character if
he "killed" Sridevi.

8.Sridevi shot for the hit song Na Jaane Kaha Se Aayi Hai from
ChaalBaaz with a fever of 103 degrees. Her performance won her a
Filmfare Award for Best Actress.

9.Sridevi's father died while she was
shooting Yash Chopra's Lamhe in London. Professional to the core, she
flew home and then returned to work to shoot a comedy sequence with
co-star Anupam Kher.

10.Sridevi's first encounter with K
Raghavendra Rao, the director who made her a star, was as a child
actor when she was hit by a car while filming a scene that required
her to cross a road. Her injuries were minor but Mr Rao, then an
assistant director, carried the young Sridevi in his arms to the
doctor. Years later, he cast her
in Padaharella Vayasu which made her a Telugu star, and then in
Himmatwala which made her a Bollywood star.

Katrina Kaif is exciting about wedding

Katrina Kaif's family in London is in a celebratory mood right now as the
wedding date of the actress' sister Natacha is inching closer. The
ceremony is scheduled to take place in London next month and Kat has
taken up the tough job of finalising the bride's trousseau.

According to sources close to the family,
Katrina will also be a bridesmaid at the
nuptials. A friend of the actress says,
"Katrina is very excited about her sister's wedding. She has been
coordinating the meetings between Natacha and designers in Mumbai to
get the clothes done in time not just for the bride but also the
entire family."

In fact, to help her with the preparations, her entire family has
flown down to the city. Katrina is also said to be taking special
interest in the menu for the wedding feast. Those close to her say
that all the running around is the reason why Kat declined to attend
the several Bollywood Eid parties that she had been invited to.

"On the day of Shah Rukh Khan's Eid
celebrations, Kat's family had actually
thrown a party for Natacha. Since the
actress is going to be busy shooting for her
films, she will fly to London for the
ceremony directly and then leave later to resume her work," adds her friend.

Michael Jackson's unheard songs to be released

Michael Jackson's former music producer plans to release previously-
unheard songs by the late King of Pop.

Fred Jerkins III, who works with his brother Rodney under the name
Darkchild, claims to be working on a project incorporating music and
video footage featuring the Beat It singer, who died of acute Propofol
intoxication in June 2009, says a source.

Speaking during a masterclass at specialist college Access to Music in
Birmingham, West Midlands, England, he said: "We have a number of
unreleased songs and all sorts of video footage. There's a project in
the making
right now that will include all those songs."

The music producer worked with Jackson on his 2001 album Invincible.
He says their sessions together were the highlight of his career
because the Thriller hitmaker was so relaxed and fun.

"I worked with him for two years exclusively - it's the biggest
highlight of my career. He came to our studios in Pleasantville, New
Jersey, and we built a really strong relationship and became really
good friends," he said.

"I remember him, just for fun, riding on a three-wheel bike in the
parking lot that belonged to someone with disabilities. He was really
relaxed. It's things like that that you wouldn't expect from Michael
Jackson. We were comfortable with him as a family and my son had his
fifth birthday at Neverland," he added.

Chennai Express | 1st Monday Box-Office Collection

Chennai Express collects 12.60 Cr in its 1st Monday on the Box-Office.
The Shah Rukh Khan-Deepika Padukone starrer Eid release fails to beat
Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani's non-holiday 1st Monday Box-Office Collection
record and went on to become 2nd highest non holiday Monday. And now
film's total collections so far has snowballed to 112.95 crores at the
domestic box office.

The film couldn't however break YJHD's
record of highest Monday collections
which remains maintained even now.
The Ayan Mukerji directorial summer
release made a whooping 13 crores on its 1st Monday and despite
releasing on a non holiday, the film raked up 190 crore plus business.

Chennai Express has been the year's most humongous film so far as it made a
fabulous income in such short span at the
box office. The film's collections saw
more than 50% drop since its Sunday figures but it still is expected to hold on
strongly at the box office on weekdays!

Shah Rukh Khan's praise for Titli made it special for me: Chinmayi Sripada

Popular playback singer Chinmayi Sripada, who sang the chartbuster
Titli song in Shah Rukh Khan's Chennai Express, says she was
absolutely thrilled when the superstar praised her for the
composition.

The music of the lilting song is composed by Vishal-Shekhar and is
picturised on Shah Rukh and Deepika Padukone.

The audio-launch of the movie was in July and Shah Rukh Khan had tweeted
appreciating the Titli number.

"The tweet from him made my day then. He tweeted saying I sound just like love.
Shekhar sir introduced me to him at the
audio launch and SRK spoke to me, also
called my mom to speak to her. He is
extremely down to earth and has no trappings of a superstar," Chinmayi said.

Chinmayi, who made her first bow in
Kollywood under the Mozart of Chennai A R Rahman's baton for Oru
Deivam track in Mani Ratnam's Kannanthil Muthamittal, said Titli
happened because of Shekhar.

Shekhar taught her the song, explained the situation. "And because he sang so
extraordinarily it was easy for me to be
inspired by it."

Chinmayi said Titli was no different from her other favourities such
as Oru Deviam Thande Poove Tere Bina (Guru), Enna Idhu (Nala
Damayati), Sahana(Shivaji), Mayya Mayya (Guru), I miss you Da
(Sakkarakatti), Vaarayo Vaarayo (Aadhavan) and Laesa Parakkudhu
(Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu ).

Top 10 Records Created By Chennai Express

Chennai Express is perhaps the only film which has made uncountable
records in a matter of such few days. The film which officially
released on Eid (9th August) has made a few bombastic records which
has set new bench marks for Bollywood.

Here we are presenting Top 10 Records Created by Chennai Express.

1) The film was the fastest entrant on
the 100 crore club. In a matter of merely 3.5 days, the film made an
earning of 100.35 crores at the domestic box office.

2) The film earned the highest opening
weekend moolah ever. Never before has
a film earned over 93.60 crores in three days.

3) The film marked Rohit Shetty's 4th
consecutive 100 crore raking film after Golmaal 3, Singham and Bol Bachchan.

4) Never before has any actress delivered three back-to-back 100 crore
grossing films in just one year. Actress Deepika Padukone in 2013 has
given 3 films which have reached beyond the 100 crore mark namely,
Race 2, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and Chennai Express. The actress still
has another film lined up this year, which is Ranveer Singh starrer
Ram Leela. It is to be seen whether the film too will reach the
coveted mark or not!

5) Again, never before has any actress
claimed the Top 3 positions on our Opening Weekend List before Deepika Padukone.

6) The film recorded the highest Thursday collection in the
International Box Office Market.

7) The film recorded the highest Sunday
collections held by any film at the
domestic box office. The film on its 1st
Sunday made an earning of whooping 32.50 crores.

8) The film recorded the highest Friday
ever in neighboring country Pakistan
where the film made a business of $80,000 i.e. 48 lacs from 36 screens.

9) In its U.S circuit, the film made a new
record by becoming the highest non-
holiday preview ever. From its Thursday
previews alone, the film made 1.47 crores.

10) Chennai Express by far is the fastest
earner in the Overseas market ever and
given SRK's huge fan following in global
circuits, it isn't a surprise!

Chennai Express | 5 ingredients of a mass entertainer

Sometimes, 'mass entertainer' seems like a term which has been coined
to cover up the shortcomings of a hugely compromised script. Most of
the films that have become massively successful in last 3-4 years fall
into this category, and they are invariably devoid of good and
innovative plot points. Recently released 'Chennai Express' is already
on its path to become another so called 'mass entertainer', but are
these films really cutting across all age groups or they are just a
by-product of generously funded publicity drives?

Before we proceed, let's try to understand the reasons that turn a film
into a mass entertainer, in short, what
are the essential ingredients of a mass
entertainer?

1) Songs: It's more about being catchy than good. Had it been about
good songs then why do albums like 'Gangs of Wasseypur', 'Matru Ki
Bijlee Ka Mandola', 'Soundtrack' and many more films fail to lure the
herds of audience! You may point out the success of 'Aashiqui 2' and
'Barfi' in this regard but very few of musical hits also showcase good
content. A look at 'Rowdy Rathore', 'Ek Tha Tiger' and 'Dabangg 2'
will convince you that it's primarily about the star value than the
quality.

2) Identification: In 1970s, films that talked about the issues of the
common man went on to make money. Slowly and steadily, the central
theme started
endorsing escapism. The more fantasised
a film is, the more is its chance to hit the goldmine, for example,
'ETT', 'Dabangg'
and 'Jab Tak Hai Jaan'. The hero has
become a person of another world who
just doesn't possess any fallacy. Be it 'Yeh
Jawaani Hai Deewani' or 'Son of Sardaar',
he exactly knows his next step. Gone are the days when Ray, Sen, Ghatak,
Mukherjee and Anand used to mould
their characters as per normal human
traits. The question of identifying with
the hero is out of the frame, unless and
until you are heartbroken in love, so much so that you don't understand the
difference between stalking and striking
a conversation.

3) Cleanliness: Almost every director, who
intends to make a 100 crore film, is using
below the belt humour to evoke some
laughter. From 'The Dirty Picture' to 'Kya
Super Kool Hain Hum' to 'Bol Bachchan',
films are capitalising on the front bench potential. Sleazy jokes and
crass humour
have evolved as a bankable trick for
successful films. As per the current
market statistics a moderate budget
production can become profitable with a
bit of smart marketing, so a popular filmmaker doesn't think twice before
using the double meaning jokes.

4) Superstars and promotional drives: A
mass entertainer also means a film with
superstars. Further, it should be
promoted hysterically. This ensures a
good visibility in the first three days
which paves the film's way to become a hit. Surprisingly, films like 'Dabangg 2'
and 'Chennai Express' deliver what was
promised in the trailers. The critics
slammed the films univocally and they
went on to become superhits. Such a
situation raises two questions, are these films immune to criticism or
the critics
are expecting these films to be
something that was never promised in
the trailers? The answer lies somewhere
in the middle. The 'informed' audience
takes film criticism seriously but they are not many in number so it
doesn't stop the
film from becoming a monster hit.
Secondly, every film can't be another life
changing experience. A negative
criticism by popular reviewers can dent
the film's business by some crore, however it still remains a money spinner
because overall business crosses the Rs
100 crore mark. Word of mouth works
wonderfully for small budget films and
indie films. Here, the potential consumer
wants to be sure before shedding a few hundreds. Blame the star system which
has become stronger in recent times that
a 'Table No 21' or 'Akaash Vani' or 'Chor
Chor Super Chor' couldn't find the right
amount of buyers. 'Ship Of Theseus'
couldn't have become such a talked about film in absence of UTV and Kiran
Rao's backing.

5) Subject: The novelty of the theme is a big attention fetcher, ask
the makers of
'Vicky Donor' if you don't believe me.
Mass entertainers dodge us at this
juncture as uniqueness is probably the
toughest thing to search in these films. The same character and story graphs can
be found in almost all the blockbusters.
The formula is set, get a witty dialogue
writer who can pen scenes through
dialogues rather than writing dialogues
for a scene. The mass vs class debate is eternal and it used to happen even when
Shyam Benegal was making socially
oriented 'successful' films. This debate is
baseless because only those films hold
value after some years that have given
something to the society. The believers of the star system forcibly
try to connect the
propaganda of a hit film with social
objectives. This argument helps the stars
in coming up with a worse film.

Making a hit film at any cost is the
maker's choice. One can't be forced to
make a film that he or she is not
comfortable in doing but then they
should also not hide their flaws in the
name of popular choice. A common movie enthusiast shouldn't be fooled just
because he or she is not aware of the
types of films that are being made in
other parts of the world. The icing on the
cake is that they are further prompted to
believe mass entertainers as the real reflection of the contemporary society.
We desperately need depth in our films
otherwise that day is not far when we
would have to accept mediocre films as
the films of the century.

"I always knew Kat would become a superstar"- Kaizad Gustad

Kaizad Gustad and Katrina Kaif's first film Boom bombed at the
box-office but the director says he knew that the
hard working actress would make it big in the industry.

Kaizad brought the 30-year-old British
Indian actress into films and gave her a
new surname Kaif. The director said when he first signed her she could
not speak a single word in Hindi.

"I knew that Katrina will be top one
actress because she was extremely hard- working and had strong perseverance.

Although she was half British, she looked
Indian and that's why I signed her for my film. She didn't know a
single word in Hindi. I have given her the surname Kaif because KK is
lucky for me," Kaizad said.

After the film, Katrina bagged other
projects including Sarkar, Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya and Namastey London
among others, and gradually made her place to
the top.

Amitabh Bachchan's performance in the
2003 film was panned by the critics but
Kaizad said the megastar had enjoyed
playing dark and crazy role.

"He was very happy and enjoying the
shoot. People didn't like his negative role because Amitji's onscreen
image is bigger than his characters. He didn't make any changes in the
script and shot it the way it was written," Kaizad said.

The director took a break post Boom. After a gap of a decade Kaizad is
making a comeback to films with Sachiin Joshi-
Sunny Leone's thriller Jackpot.

Sonakshi Sinha poses for PETA India, urges fans to adopt homeless dogs, cats

Bollywood's Dabangg actress Sonakshi Sinha has recently join hands
with the animal rights organisation People for the Ethical Treatment
of Animals (PETA) India to stand for the rights of the homeless pets.
Ahead of the International Homeless Animals' Day, Sona did a
photoshoot with PETA India urging all to adopt street dogs and cats.

The actress has also asked fans to take care of sterilising the animals.

"Breeders, pet stores and people who don't sterilise their animals are
responsible for all the animals who end up homeless," Sonakshi said in
a statement.

The PETA ad has Sonakhi seen sitting with her canine friend Bambi with
a tag line which reads, "Envision a World Without Homeless Dogs and
Cats. Adopt a dog or cat from an animal shelter, and always get your
animal companions sterilised."

The photograph has been shot by leading photographer Russi Modi.

Sonakshi and PETA India want all prospective animal guardians to avoid
greedy breeders and pet shops, which only make the homeless cat and
dog crisis worse and to adopt their animals from a shelter or take in
a cat or dog from the streets instead.

"Every time someone buys a dog or cat from a breeder or pet store, a
homeless animal roaming the streets or waiting in an animal shelter
loses a chance at a home and a good life," added the 26- year-old.

scenes inside out. So, when you work with such people, it feels good
and it is very inspiring", Imran said in a statement.

Bollywood sequel movie "Once Upon A Time In Mumbai Dobaara" has been
Directed by Milan Luthria and produced by Ekta Kapoor.

Farhan Akhtar wants to work with Salman Khan

Farhan Akhtar has worked as a producer
and director with two Khans — Shah
Rukh and Aamir. But he's yet to work with the third — Salman. Although the
Dabangg (2010) actor has stated in an
earlier interview that filmmakers like Farhan and Karan Johar "don't want to
work with me," the former begs to differ.

"I have approached him in the past, so I
think, that in itself is an indication that I
would like to — at some point — give
him the material that I think is appropriate to him," Farhan told HT Café
during an office visit to promote his latest blockbuster, Bhaag Milkha
Bhaag. In the past, Farhan has apparently approached Salman twice with
scripts, but the latter didn't show any interest.

"As I (have always) said, I felt it's (script) right for him, but he
didn't feel that it's right for him. So, would I like to work with
him? Yes, but given the right nature of the film. Whether we will, who
knows?" added Farhan, whose father Javed Akhtar once worked closely with
Salman's father, Salim Khan. The duo has written several blockbusters
like Zanjeer (1973), Deewar (1975), Sholay (1975) and Don (1978).

In fact, rumours suggest that Talaash
(2012), which was produced by Farhan,
was also offered to Salman. "He was
offered many films by us," said the
filmmaker-actor, who is yet to direct a
film after his 2011 hit, Don 2. He will next be seen acting in Shaadi
Ke Side Effects
opposite Vidya Balan.

Saif-Katrina in post-26/11 counter- terror film

Kabir Khan, whose last film Ek Tha Tiger
was about the life of a RAW agent, is all
set to cast Saif Ali Khan in a film about
post 26/11 counter-terrorism.

The film is to be written by Hussain Zaidi, the prominent crime writer whose
scrupulously researched books have
earlier been the basis of Anurag Kashyap's Black Friday and Sanjay
Gupta's Shootout At Wadala.

This wouldn't be the first film Saif would
be doing on global terrorism. He has earlier done Rensil D'Silva's Kurbaan
where he played a terrorist. In Kabir's
film that Sajid Nadiadwala will produce,
Saif crosses over to the other side.

Says a source, "Saif plays a counter-
terrorist deputed to tackle a post-26/11
scenario. It's a kind of extension to
Salman Khan's RAW agent's role in Kabir
Khan's Ek Tha Tiger. But the politics of
this film would be far more topical."

Saif, we have come to know from reliable sources, would be required to
undertake remarkable research to get his data on counter-insurgency right.

Says the source, "It's a different world for Saif and producer Sajid
Nadiadwala. Sajid has only done mass entertainers so far."

first among social organizations by Brand

cities. "This has helped Mandhana
industries offer world class fashionable products coupled with the
satisfaction of
doing good," he adds.

For autumn/winter 2013, the brand has
worked on the theme: 'Bring colours to
your life'. The pallet runs from saturated
deeps to outright florescent bright
colours. Fabrics and styles continue to
take forward the company's emphasis on not just the look of the
garments but also
its hand feel, richness of quality and
attention to detail. The fits are slimmer in
keeping with international trends, styling
is more crisp and sleek. The messages
that run across the collection is its brand philosophy: 'Feel good, do good'.
